Election Day registration

Forgot to register? You can still vote.

If you've missed every registration deadline, you can register and vote on the same day, in person, at Greenwich Town Hall.

Where and when

Any bona fide resident of Greenwich can register and vote at the Election Day registration location on the second floor of Greenwich Town Hall, 101 Field Point Road, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. It is not available at neighborhood polling places.

Same-day registration is also available during early voting before a November election.

Not for primaries or special elections. Same-day registration is only offered for regular November elections.

Plan for a wait

You register, election officials verify it, and then you vote. Officials have to confirm you aren't registered anywhere else in Connecticut. If you are, they call that town's Registrars of Voters to make sure you haven't already voted there. Depending on how busy it is, this takes from about 20 minutes to an hour.

What to bring

Come in person with proof of identity and proof of residence. A current Connecticut driver's license, non-driver ID or learner's permit covers both, including one with a change-of-address sticker.

Proof of identity

  • Birth certificate
  • Driver's license (out of state is fine for identity only)
  • College photo ID
  • Social Security card
  • Oath of another voter, or other proof satisfactory to the registrars (identity only)

Proof of residence, for example

  • Current Connecticut driver's license, non-driver ID or learner's permit
  • Utility bill due no more than 30 days before the election. An electronic bill you download in front of the poll worker counts; a picture of one doesn't.
  • Current paycheck or bank statement
  • Lease
  • Property tax bill
  • Passport, if recent and showing your home address
  • Naturalization documents
  • Current college or university registration or fee statement
